Description
Every year since 1947 the people of Oslo, Norway’s largest city and capital, have given a Christmas tree to the city of Westminster in Great Britain. This gift is an expression of goodwill and gratitude for Britain’s help to Norway in the 1939 -1945 War. This Father Christmas from Oslo wears white, representing the snow covered mountains of Norway. He carries a tree, reminiscent of the precious Christmas tree given to Britain. His lantern shines before him, showing him the way to Westminster and representing the Light of the World that the Christ Child brought when He was born in Bethlehem.
