Description

“Babbo Natale”, as the Italian Father Christmas is named, makes his appearance on Christmas Eve although traditionally children received their gifts from BEFANA, a grand-motherly witch, on the Epiphany. Italian children write a letter, not to Babbo Natale, but to their parents, promising to be good the next year and place it under their Father Christmas dinner plate. Twinkling lights and Christmas markets are in every piazzo and bells and music fill the air. Although most Italians in Italy have long held traditions about the foods they eat at Christmas time, in American many families like to have pizza as their informal Christmas Eve Dinner, leaving plenty of time for opening presents and enjoying the holiday celebrations together.
