Description
The Mexican Santa wears a suit as brilliant as the traditional flower of the season, the poinsettia, a star-shaped bloom. Legend says that a young boy gathered up some plain green branches and as he placed the branches near the Christmas manger, the branches started to bloom. Santa’s staff, a shepherd’s hook, has a small traditional star pinata hanging from it. Santa’s bag includes the Rosca de Reyes, crown-shaped sweet bread in which a tiny figure of baby Jesus is hidden. Whoever gets the baby is obligated to host a party on Candlemas, February 2nd. Dangling are children shoes, which boys and girls place by the window so Magi, the three kings, can place the presents inside.
