Christmas is the time when we wish peace and good will to all, including the four-legged creatures that share the earth with us. Wolves were once common throughout all of North America but were hunted to near extinction by 1930. Since then, many states have passed protection laws to secure the continuation of this much-maligned species. Wolves are the ancestors of our domestic dogs. They travel in packs as a family with the mother and father protecting their young at all costs. Wolves develop close relationships and strong social bonds, often displaying deep affection for their family pack. The Peace to All Santa is guided through the night by his friends, the wolves, and carries a petition to save the wolves from losing their inherent legal protection. The Peace to All Santa reminds us that Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of the Christ Child and to remember all the creatures, great and small, especially those endangered species that God made to enrich our lives on earth.
